The Symposium offers an extensive curriculum focused on a broad base of issues presented from a practical standpoint.
Program description
Now in its 19th year, this year’s Symposium will challenge participants to lead as business advisors within their organizations to cultivate and foster a thriving, highly valued multistate tax function attuned to everchanging business needs.
The value-driven forum offers businesses the opportunity to hear from and interact with leading practitioners, industry peers, and colleagues from across the country.
Highlights include:
Tax policy and politics on the Hill, including what we saw on federal tax policy in 2022, what may be on the Congressional agenda for 2023, what may have a chance of becoming law, and when we might see action on them.
Leading practices on inspiring professionals to operationalize the routine, to reenergize the focus on identifying potential tax issues and opportunities and communicate findings as today’s business advisors and tomorrow’s leaders.
Diving into practical aspects of post-restructuring integration from the tax function’s point of view and the potential impacts that may arise after an M&A life event, including tax transformation and other opportunities to achieve tax efficiencies and address risks.
Exploring how tax teams are aligning their organization’s long-term tax planning with ESG-driven businesses and operating model changes to stay closely attuned to the impact of new environmental taxes and sustainability related credits and discretionary incentives, tax governance, and disclosure requirements and pressures.
Recent developments and trends in Multistate taxation including state tax implications of the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022, and some tips on what to watch for in the upcoming 2023 state and local legislative sessions.
A practical look at state and local income and indirect tax issues of the day involving nexus and P.L. 86-272, related-party transactions, transfer pricing audits and controversies, foreign source income, digital products and services, cryptocurrency, pass-through entities, credits and incentives, property tax compliance and appeals, and unclaimed property.
